With every passing year, our smartphones keep evolving into more advanced pieces of technology. But as technology evolves, smartphone manufacturers are leaving behind many features that were once important and sought after. The list of such features that are being killed off have been listed below.

A smartphone with a removable battery

Thanks to the adoption of fast charging and wireless charging, removable batteries are hardly necessary. Many low end devices still have removable batteries but people rarely take advantage of the feature. Smartphone manufacturers are also switching to glass and aluminum for their phones. This means phones with removable batteries are fast drying out.

5 inch and below smartphones

Almost all smartphones that release nowadays have a screen size of 5 inch or higher. Having a phone with a larger footprint has multiple benefits. Aside from the fact that users have a larger display, manufacturers can also incorporate a larger battery.

Physical keyboard on a smartphone

Physical smartphones are almost gone except for devices like the BlackBerry KEYone. There are many consumers who still prefer these. The reason is due to the tactile feedback but software keyboards have come a long way and now offer a better experience.

The headphone jack

While the headphone jack is not dying as soon as reports say, it is certainly going to happen. Moto Z started this trend and Apple popularized it. Many manufacturers have quickly joined on the bandwagon. Rumors are that even the Google Pixel 2 XL will release without the headphone.

Dual front facing speakers

Although not very popular, this feature was one of the most handy features to anyone who wished to play media on their smartphone. HTC included this in many of their smartphones to great applause. Nowadays manufacturers prefer bezel less phones so this makes it impossible to add dual front facing speakers.
