Samsung targets the family market with its new kid friendly tablet; the Galaxy Tab A. This puts it directly in the line of fire of Amazon’s own kid friendly tablets. However, Samsung’s offering much more expensive than Amazons.

Specs of the Galaxy Tab A

The tablet is an eight inch tablet with a display resolution of 1280 x 800. On the side of cameras, the device comes with an 8 MP camera on the back and a 5 MP camera on the front for your selfies. Storage wise, it has 32GB of in built storage and as with most of Samsung’s products, come with an SD card, which can support cards up to 256 GB. 2 GB of RAM is included to ensure smooth performance with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor to run the system. The Galaxy Tab A is powered by a 5000 mAh battery under the hood and runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Oh and another major point is that the tab makes the transition from Micro USB to USB Type C so this tablet is future proof to some extent. The colors available are limited as only Black and Silver are available.

Features of the Galaxy Tab A

Most of the features of the tablet are engineered towards kids and the family. They even follow Amazon’s Fire tablets in some aspects. For an instance, your kid can have his or her own account but with parental controls set ahead of time, like time limits and available content. It comes with a “kids mode” included in it. This brings up a lot of apps and games to the screen. The majority of the games are from partners of the company such as Lego. It has to be said though, that not all games are free and some have to be bought. In this mode, even the calls and the notifications can be switched off.

On the side of pricing, the device is $229.99.
