They are moving from their trademark ten second videos

Snapchat has always capped their videos at ten seconds. It allowed them to post unique videos but was quite frustrating for users who had longer moments to share. The company has now released an update that allows Android users to post longer videos.

The feature was first available on iOS and was exclusive to them for quite a while. After a long period of waiting, Android users now get their hands on it. Simply put, you can now record up to a minute of video on Snapchat. This one minute video will be recorded in the form of six ten second snaps.

It is also quite easy and seamless to use. As you are recording a video, continue keeping your finger on the record icon as you approach the ten second limit. Once the video reaches the ten second barrier, it will move on to the next snap and record a second clip. After this, it will show a thumbnail at the bottom of the screen for each multi snap part. To make use of this feature, you need to log on to the Play Store and update your app to the latest version.

Snapchat has been busy over the last few months. They have released a bunch of new features. This seems a plot to combat the growing popularity of Instagram stories and bring back their own popularity. The company released an update on the 10th of October where it introduced Context Cards to users. This allows the user to obtain more information about a place you see on another person’s snap. For an instance, if you see food at a hotel, you can swipe up and find more information on the hotel. This can include reviews of other people, the address or hail an Uber to reach the place.
