Quick HTC U11 Review

Can HTC's new device stand up to the competition?

0

HTC recently launched their flagship device of 2017; the HTC U11. They have taken a different direction than their previous flagship device, the HTC 10. The phone has top end specifications, a smooth and clean software experience and a squeezable design but will that be enough to entice consumers back to the ailing smartphone company?

Design of the HTC U11

While HTC has its own flaws, it has always excelled when it came to designing their phones. The HTC U11 is no exception. Switching from the usual metal build, the company has decided to go for a metal and glass construction. An aluminum frame is placed in between the glass. There are round corners and curved edges on both sides that make it easy to hold and use the phone. A unique feature in the HTC U11 is the liquid glass surface on the back. Of course, the glass build means that is a great fingerprint magnet.

Display of the HTC U11

The device comes with a 5.5-inch Quad HD Super LCD 5 display. The quality of the screen is up to standard with the colors being vibrant and crisp. The viewing angles are also pretty great.

Specs of the HTC U11

In terms of specifications and hardware, the U11 ticks all the right boxes. Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor backed by 4GB of RAM, and overall performance is just as fast and fluid as you would expect.  64 GB of onboard storage, which you can expand up to an additional 256 GB via microSD. There’s also a global variant of the device that comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The U11 features the same woofer and tweeter combo that we first saw with the HTC 10, but it has been improved significantly this time around. It is much louder and with better clarity, and HTC is leveraging the entire phone as an acoustic chamber to make this happen.

Camera of the HTC U11

The U11’s main camera comes with a 12 MP “UltraPixel 3” sensor, with a f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization. Overall, the U11’s camera lives up to the hype and is capable of taking some impressive photos. There’s plenty of detail in each shot, and color reproduction is natural and not overly vibrant.
