Netflix releases an app to manage DVDs

0

Netflix has been steadily solidifying its power on the digital streaming world. However, many easily forget that four million still use the DVD rental service. It has been in operation since 1998. After all this time, the company has now made an Android app so you can manage your DVD queues.

How does the new Netflix App work?

When it comes to functionality, the app works same as the usual Netflix app. It is quite similar in terms of looks too. For those who are not familiar with the app an explation is given below.

There is a home screen that recommends movies. This is based on a genre and a category. When you click on one movie, you have the option to rate the movie, check the synopsis and cast or look for movies on the same tone. There is one major difference between both apps though. This is in how you watch the movie. On the uual app, you can watch a movie when you click it. On the DVD version of the app, there is a plus icon on it. When you click that icon, the app will add the particular movie to the queue of movies.

In the event that you have more movies in your queue, you can configure them too. This means you can change the position of the movie, the format of the movie or remove it from the queue completely. Furthermore, the app gives you a notification when the company ships your DVD and when they receive it too.

For newcomers, this feature was included in the regular app. However, back in 2011, the company removed it for some inexplicable reason. Now after six year, the feature is back as a standalone app. Users can download the app at the Google Play Store.
